Richard "Dick" Goertemiller of Carmel, IN passed away peacefully at home on January 11, 2023, surrounded by his children. Born in Cincinnati, OH to Hameline W. and Marie (Clampett) Goertemiller on July 9, 1927, he and his brother Doug atte4nded grammar and high school in Buffalo, NY.

At the age of 17, he enlisted in the US Navy during WWII and served until honorably discharged in 1946. He then enrolled at Ohio State University. He met his future wife, Elizabeth, at a fraternity/sorority pledge party, dating for four years before their engagement at the famous "Snow Bowl" and marriage in 1951. After graduation Dick worked as a buyer and merchandiser for major department stores in Cincinnati and Washington DC, before being employed by NCR Corporation in sales for 32 years.

In retirement they enjoyed wintering in Sanibel, FL and Galveston, TX where they developed enduring friendships with a special group of "Winter Texans". They also traveled to the Far East, Australia, New Zealand, China, and Europe, and enjoyed several cruises. Dick and Elizabeth were married for 58 years when Elizabeth passed away in 2009. Then Dick found a new love in Phyllis Graver, and they embarked on various cruises and trips until her death in 2017.

Dick leaves behind his children, Dru Doyle, Lyn (Jay) Daugherty, Kurt (Lisa) Goertemiller; grandchildren, Evan and Elizabeth Daugherty; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 11 am Tuesday January 17, 2023 at Orchard Park Presbyterian Church. 1605 East 106th Street. visitation will be from 4pm to 7pm on Monday January 16, 2023 at Flanner Buchanan-Carmel, 325 East Carmel Drive, and also one hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Orchard Park Presbyterian Church.
