In Loving Memory of Sue…

Sue Bredenberg
February 4, 1933 – November 6, 2022

Norma Sue Olsen Bredenberg ("Sue") peacefully passed away on November 6, 2022 in Atlanta, GA at the age of 89 at The Arbor Terrace of Decatur. Sue was preceded in death by her husband Ed Bredenberg in 2010, and her son, Terry Hornaday III who passed away from lymphoma in 1987 at the age of 32 leaving his wife Lani (Rust) and 4 children.

Sue was born to Virginia Waugh Olsen and Norman George Olsen, on February 4, 1933 in Lincoln, Nebraska. Sue was raised In Birmingham, AL with her brothers, Richard and Norman Olsen until she graduated high school. Her father Norman Olsen started the Maytag Southeastern Company in Atlanta, GA, in the late 1940s where it remained a family business for decades. Sue's parents were very loving grandparents to 6 grandchildren and were active members of the Birmingham, AL, Atlanta, GA and Dunedin, FL communities.

Sue met Terry Hornaday Jr. in her first year at Stephens College, while he was attending Sewanee Military Academy. Sue and Terry were married and started a family with two beautiful children, Terry III in 1954 and Ginger in 1956. They created a family in the oil fields of West Texas & Arizona where Terry Jr worked in his father's Oil & Gas business. After a few years they moved to Dunedin, FL where Sue could live closer to her parents.

Sue moved to Ft. Lauderdale, FL after she married H.P. Manning, a dentist, in 1962. With Ginger and Terry in tow, they met many of H.P. 's wonderful friends, creating another new life for the resilient and adventurous Sweet Sue. In 1968, Sue and H.P. welcomed the birth of their twin girls, Sandy and Patty. For 30 years, Sue lived in Ft. Lauderdale where she built a loving home for her children and grandchildren. After Sue lost H.P. and her son Terry, she decided to move to Atlanta, GA to have a life closer to her children and grandchildren.

At the age of 60 in 1993, Sue met Ed Bredenberg in Atlanta and they fell in love, soon married and spent the summers traveling the US in their RV before settling in Port Richey, FL. They found a beautiful home on the golf course where they could be close to family, and friends while entertaining, and living their best life. Sue and Ed, (Sue Sue and PeePaw), were doting grandparents and always visited family in Atlanta for holidays or any excuse with presents for the children and grandchildren.

Sue lost her dear husband Ed in 2010 in Port Richey FL and after his death she moved back to Atlanta to be near her family once again where she lived the rest of her life. Sue was always upbeat, never complaining, and always bouncing back from surgeries and rehab for two broken hips. Sue was one of the most positive and most resilient women we know, a true southern lady. Sue was guided by the love of her family and passed away surrounded by that love. Her final words spoken were "love, love love you."

We will always remember Sweet Sue for her adventurous spirit, love of lunching, and shopping and going to the movies, watching NFL games, never meeting a stranger, attending her grandchildren's school functions, freely giving out hugs and Hershey kisses and singing her favorite songs!

Sue is survived by her 3 daughters: Ginger Hornaday, Sandy Polly, and Patty Rollins; 1 step daughter, Jan Amador; 10 grandchildren, Ben, Leah, Rachel, Seth, Miller, Charlotte, Josh, Harper, Arron and Mitchell, and 3 great granddaughters, Lola, Madeline and Emma.

The family is holding a private Memorial Service for Sue. If you'd like to give something in her honor, please forward donations to Flamingo Gardens at https://flamingogardens.org/
