Conductor, Author. Mr. Robert "Bob" Lawson Craft is best known for his close-working relationship with the famous Russian composer, Igor Stravinsky. Craft's relationship with the composer began in 1947 after initially writing to him in hopes to procure a copy of his Symphonies of Wind Instruments score. Surprisingly to Craft, Stravinsky promptly wrote back with an offer to conduct the work he was in fact revising at the time he received the letter from Craft. Craft would go on to forge a personal and professional relationship with Stravinsky that lasted from 1947 to 1971. Craft led several world premieres of Stravinsky's late works and collaborated with the maestro on producing several books. Robert Craft died in 2015 from natural causes and is buried near Igor Stravinsky, and his second wife Vera, in Venice at the Cimitero di San Michele in Italy.
