Morgan- Gale Floyd Allen, 90, passed away peacefully in his sleep Thursday, July 8, 2010. He was born March 12, 1920 in Morgan, Utah, to Herbert and Noreen Olsen Allen. He was the youngest of six children. He married Nell Barnett on October 8, 1941 in the Salt Lake LDS temple. They were the parents of five children. Nell preceded him in death on July 6, 2005. He married Nedra Tucker on March 25, 2006. Gale spent his childhood exploring the hills and streams of Morgan. He grew up to be an avid outdoorsman, hunting, fishing, and trapping until he was 90 years old. He served two years in the United States Army during World War II. Life was always an adventure for Gale. In addition to the outdoors, he had a variety of interests, including dancing, good dogs, mink ranching, storytelling, Arabian horses, horn collecting, rock hounding, nutrition, and match-making. He was a philosopher and dreamer extraordinaire. Gale loved his horses and spent every spring season in the barn delivering foals. He also loved young people. Many generations of neighborhood children fondly remember nights spent in the barn, listening to Gale 's stories while waiting for foals to be born. As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Gale served faithfully in many callings throughout his life. He especially enjoyed his time spent with the Boy Scouts. Gale is survived by his wife, Nedra Tucker Allen, and his five children: Sue (Marlin) Brooks, Kim (Jeanne) Allen, Nedra (Greg) Richins, Kent (Susan) Allen, and Bret (Pam) Allen; and dear friends Steve and Sharla Bell. He is survived by his six stepchildren and many step-grandchildren who also loved Grandpa Gale. He has 27 grandchildren, 49 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are his in-laws: Lena (Keith) Allen, Eva (Owen) Barnett, Ross and Shirley Dearden. Gale was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Nell, his siblings, and one granddaughter, Josell Allen. His family would like to thank the staff at Family Tree Assisted Living Center and Alpine Hospice for their loving care. Funeral services were held on Monday, July 12 at 11 a.m. at the Milton LDS Chapel. Friends and family called Sunday evening at the Milton Church, and on Monday in Milton prior to the services. Interment at Milton Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Gale would ask you to please take someone you love to dinner at Chuck-a-Rama, or make a donation to the Perpetual Education Fund.
