Lula Bell Swan was born in Shelby County, Texas, the d/o Jesse Hilliard and Martha Ann (Shelton) Swann.

She married William Leonidas Coble (from Tennessee), Nov. 10, 1881, Midlothian, Ellis, Texas.

Three sons were born to this marriage - Ivan Luther, Harry Hilliard and Alvis Eli.

Lula Bell was a little bit of a woman and a busy "bee." Her grandchildren loved her good nature. She cleaned house for the Nifong family for many years.

Her mother died in Paul's Valley, Garvin, OK, 25 Dec 1906; born 31 Dec 1859, Mayfield, Graves KY.

Her father died in Duke, Jackson OK, 10 Oct 1911; born 28 Aug 1854, Blount County AL. (parents, Rhoda Ann SAPP & Edward K. Swan)

She had three brothers and one sister:

* Edward Hartwell Swan ~ born 24 Sep 1882, Van Zandt TX; died 15 Apr 1911, Paul's Valley OK.

* Matthew Swan ~ 1889-1889, Van Zandt County, Texas

* Ida Pearl Swan ~ born 15 Sep 1892, Van Zandt TX; died 27 May 1983, Sebastopol, Sonoma CA. Ida married James Bowman James.

* Henry Stanley Swan ~ born 14 Jan 1896, Van Zandt TX; died 12 Sep 1975, Folsom, Sacramento CA


Mrs. Lula Bell Swan Coble, 82, a long time resident of Mansfield, passed away in All Saints Hospital on Sunday, Aug. 4, 1968.

Services were held at 2:30 p.m., Tuesday at the Mansfield Church of Christ on Sunday, Aug. 4.

She was born March 14, 1886, in Shelby County, Texas, the daughter of Jesse Hilliard (of Blount, Alabama) and Martha Ann Shelton (of Mayfield, Graves, Kentucky) Swan.

She married William Leonidus Coble (of Marshall County, Tennessee), Nov. 28, 1904, in Wills Point, Van Zandt, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her husband, March 10, 1934. Both are buried in Mansfield Cemetery, Mansfield.

Survivors: Sons, Ivan Luther Coble, Harry Hilliard Coble and Alvin Eli (Al) Coble, all of Mansfield; one brother, Henry Stanley Swan of Chico, Calif.; one sister, Mrs. Ida Pearl (James Bowman) James of Sacramento, Calif.; 14
grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren.

Pallbearers: Six of her grandsons.
