Pvt. Collins was inducted into the military on August 31, 1944, at Fort Snelling, Minnesota. Pvt. Collins fought with the Headquarters Company, Combat Command “B”, Eighth Armored Division. He left the United States on January 31, 1945. He died in Germany on March 5, 1945, due to injuries received while fighting. At the time of Pvt. Collins’ death, his brother Vednon was a captain serving overseas and his brother Stanley was at home with the family.
