Barbara K. (Lieneman) Swanson, age 80, passed away Friday, August 23, 2019. Born August 3, 1939 in Filley, NE to Fred and Sophia Lieneman. She grew up and graduated from Beatrice, NE and moved to Lincoln following graduation. She married Lester Swanson on August 31, 1958 at Zion Lutheran Church in Filley, NE. She received her Associates Degree in Nutrition from Southeast Community College of Lincoln. She worked for many years for Lincoln Public Schools in the food services department. She was a long-time member of United Lutheran Church in Havelock. She volunteered as a den mother, PTA, paraeducator, Sunday school teacher, and at St. Elizabeth passing out birth certificates.
She took the most pride in spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed cooking, participating in church activities and happy hour with friends and family.
Barb is preceded in death by her parents, brothers Johnny (Edna) Lieneman and Hank (Tina) and sister Marie (Harm) Ideus.
Left to cherish the many memories are her husband, Lester; children; David (Lori) Swanson of North Platte, Daniel (Patty) Swanson of Lincoln, Douglas (Jessica Nelson) Swanson of Ashland and Darrin (Susan) Swanson of Memphis, TN. Grandchildren; Alexander (Kirsty) Swanson, Sophia (Jeff) Markley, Benjamin (Heather) Swanson, Hayden Swanson, Sophia (Nathan) Weiss, Nathaniel Nelson, Ashley (Christopher) Benes, Sheldon Swanson, Sydney Swanson, Alex Nelson and Addi Nelson, Grace Swanson and Mary Swanson. Great-grandchildren; Hazel Markley, Jackson, Emma and Cooper Swanson and August, Asher and Amara Benes; sister Carol (Lloyd) Thompson; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was a grandmother to everyone she met and left everybody with a hug, kiss and unconditional love.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00AM on Friday, August 30 at United Lutheran Church at 5945 Fremont Street, Lincoln, NE. Reception immediately following at Isles Reception Hall at 6232 Havelock Avenue, Lincoln, NE. Barb requested that bright colors be worn for her Celebration of Life.
