Billy Boyd Britt, 84, of Tunica, Mississippi, passed away on January,18th, 2023 in Clarksdale Mississippi. Billy was born on March,9th, 1938 in Ruleville MS to the late Sam Archie Britt and Hazel Griffith Britt. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, January,25,2023 at Tunica United Methodist Church, 1043 School Street, Tunica, MS 38676. Pastor Keith Gaughf will officiate. Arrangements have been made with Williams & Lord Funeral Home of Ruleville, MS.

Billy graduated from Ruleville High School and enjoyed a multitude of academic and social activities, including playing the lead role in a play his senior year. Until his last days, he made a tremendous effort to stay connected with classmates. He was enthusiastic about attending monthly lunches with his fellow RHS Alumni. He attended Mississippi State University and completed his business degree at Delta State University in Cleveland MS. He was an avid Mississippi State fan and a lifelong MSU Bulldog Club Member. He traveled many miles over many years to boldly cheer them on and 'Do It Like A Big Dog' was a standard in Billy's unlimited catalogue of sayings. He had a rhyme or nickname for everything and everybody. That was one of his many uniquely creative traits.

Billy married Shirley Faye Baynes, Mother of Mark and Tad; and later married Patti Boykin Blakeway, Mother of Amy. He was extremely proud of all three; and held them dear to his heart. He loved his children, daughters-in-law and his grandchildren immensely. He found much pleasure spending time with his family and was grateful for them. Billy cherished friends and took any chance offered to spend time in their company. He took solace on his house boat and loved to garden. He pinned flowers to his shirt and was a joyful birdwatcher. His companionship with cats was endearing, they soothed his soul. He was a devoted patriot, an ever-curious and passionate man. He was a diehard news hound and diverse. Dancing, walking and eating were most of his favorite activities.

Billy excelled in sales and marketing, he was a determined go-getter and built his own business in Arkansas for many years. He worked hard and played hard. After returning to Mississippi in 1984, he set his mind to 'Selling Tunica'. He hustled and hounded to expand growth in his community and would go to any lengths to achieve his goals. He was persistent and always thinking. Always! He was equally invested in bettering his community with consistent involvement in civic organizations such as Lion's Club and hundreds of fundraisers over the years. He was a faithful and active member of the Tunica United Methodist Church. Billy stated that his greatest achievement in life came around ten years ago during his conception, planning and involvement of The Great River Revival: Reconciliation of Races. He was moved that 'God chose him to bring people together'. God Make Us One became Billy's ultimate vision and most meaningful of all his slogans. He wished that to be his legacy.

Billy is survived by his beloved brothers Sammy Britt and wife Linda of Cleveland MS; Donald (Don) and Cathy Britt of Senatobia MS; son Mark and wife Kim of Jefferson TX; son Tad Britt and wife Mary Susan of Shreveport, LA; daughter Amy Britt of North Little Rock AR; grandchildren Hannah Britt of Durango CO; Matthew Britt of Denton TX and Grace Britt of Fayetteville AR. He truly cherished all of them.

God rest Billy's soul, his special presence will be missed by many.
