Hower Thomas "Tommy" Baker, Jr. Chaplin, age 88, passed away Saturday, January 21, 2023 at UofL Health-Jewish Hospital. He was born October 13, 1934 in Shelbyville to the late Hower Thomas and Margaret Stout Baker, Sr.

Tommy was a retired employee of General Electric, was a former employee of L&N Railroad, and was a partner in the former Regal Oil Company. He and his wife, Mary Evelyn also provided childcare for children in the area. He was a United States Army Veteran of the Korean War, was a member of Chaplin Christian Church where he served as a deacon and was an avid UK fan.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Evelyn Holt Baker, a daughter-in-law, Bobbie Baker, his sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and Bill Pearson and a nephew, Dana Pearson.

He is survived by his sons, Brent (Lisa) Baker of Taylorsville, Todd Baker of Bloomfield, 3 grandchildren, Josh (Crystal) Allen, Breisa (Colin) Varney, Hannah (Austin) Garrett, 2 great grandchildren and a nephew, Scott Pearson

Funeral services for Mr. Tommy Baker will be 11:00 am Thursday, January 26, 2023 Bro. Ernie Perry will officiate. Interment will be in Highview Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 3:00-8:00 pm.
