It is with great sadness, that we announce the death of Gene W. Reed, born in Commerce, MO in 1928.
He passed away on January 14th, 2023, at his home with family in Highland, CA.
Gene lived a long, full life, born during The Great Depression, he enjoyed his childhood with many siblings and left MO. for the U.S. Air Force during the Korean war, where he served his country that he loved, for 30 years.
He met the love of his life while stationed in Thailand during the Vietnam war and was then stationed at Norton Air Force Base in Southern California.
He spent the remainder of his life in California with his wife and three children and worked another 20 years for the U.S. Postal Service.
A hard worker, and an always cheerful and loving soul, he enjoyed his family, church and work family and friends, singing, and all sorts of music- from old gospel hymns, bluegrass, Thai music, Sinatra, and local Mariachi band performances.
He also had a passion for air shows, baseball, and he and his wife celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 2022.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas Edward Reed and Blanche Smithson Reed, and his five siblings Bill Reed, Junior Reed, Harold Reed, Lois Corbitt and Shirley Chapek.
His funeral will take place on: Friday February 10th at 10:30am at Bobbitt Memorial Chapel at 1299 E. Highland Ave, San Bernardino, CA 92404
It will be followed by a committal service with full military honors, at Riverside National Cemetery promptly at 12:30pm
