The Berrien County Record carried the obituary of Adelia Mensinger: "Adelia Mae Mensinger-Sawyer—Adelia "Dee" Mensinger, 76, died Thursday, Feb 26 at Lakeland Continuing Care Center in Berrien Center. She was born Feb. 4, 1928 in New Troy, to Walter and Cora (Upton) Brackett. She graduated from New Troy High School in 1947. She had been employed as a floor supervisor at the former Gerber Babywear Factory in Three Oaks. She was a 4-H leader and a member of New Troy Grace Brethren Church where she had served as a Sunday school teacher. On Sept. 19, 1948, she married Martin E. Mensinger. He survives with children, Joyce (Curtis) Smith of New Troy, Karolyn (Bruce) Adams of Union, Mich. and Martin Jon Mensinger of Boise, Idaho; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; three sisters, Marjorie Shephardson of Galien, Dona Jackson of Three Oaks and Carol Stuckey of Buchanan; and brothers, Jack Brackett of Three Oaks and Robert Brackett of Missouri. She was preceded in death by a son, Don, in 1989; sisters Sarah and Mary; and brothers, Earl, Ed and Walter. Funeral services were held Monday, March 1 at the New Troy Grace Brethren Church. Cremation followed services, and burial was in New Troy Cemetery. Memorials are to the church. Pobocik Funeral Home served the family." Note: Cora Brackett's maiden name was Upson not Upton.
