Mary Whiteman graduated from High School in Montgomery County, Maryland in 1956. She then went to American University where she majored in International Relations. Afterwards she made her life career as a French language & culture specialist at the United States Information Agency (USIA). She never married and had no children.
When she retired, she sold her Washington D.C. home and moved to Sussex County, Delaware, where her parents had retired although she did not move to their neighborhood of Rehoboth Beach. She died at her home in rural Sussex County, Delaware, on her 79th birthday, Dec. 9, 2017. As far as is known, her remains were cremated and ashes scattered in Delaware.
