Mr. Emory Loyd "Buddy" Alford, age 74, of Lake City, Florida passed on Saturday, Jan. 21, in the HCA North Florida Hospital, Gainesville, Florida following a brief illness. He was born November 26, 1948 in Lake City, Florida to Clarence Loyd Alford and Edna Mae Proveau Alford. He graduated from Columba High School Class of 1966 and joined the United States Army and served in the Vietnam War. He was a life member of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Disabled American Veterans. He retired from the Florida Department of Corrections with 30 years of service. He was a member of the Parkview Baptist Church. Survivors include his sister, Linda C. (Bardin) Summerall of Lake City, Florida; his niece, Leila C. Harrington; his nephew, Dylan Adams; three great-nieces, Callie Rose Harrington, Marleigh Mae Adams and Elliana Adams; two great-nephews, John Daniel Harrington, III and Hayden Adams and numerous cousins survive.
