Virginia P. Wierman, 88, of 217 S. Montana Ave., Morton, passed away at 1:29 p.m. Wednesday (Feb. 20, 2008) at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

Her funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Morton United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Bob Sabo officiating. A graveside service will be at 3 p.m. Monday at Cartwright Cemetery, Tuscola. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Knapp-Johnson Funeral Home in Morton and from 9 to 9:45 a.m. Monday at the church. Memorials may be made to the Morton United Methodist Church Building Fund, 401 S. Carol Ave., Morton, IL 61550.

She was born Aug. 2, 1919, in Tuscola, daughter of H.H. and Mable Monger Radcliff. She married Warren Wilfred Wierman on Oct. 11, 1936, in Champaign. He preceded her in death on Oct. 26, 1991. She also was preceded in death by her parents, older brother and younger sister.

Surviving are a daughter, Sharon (Norm) Shoopman, Hudson; and her son, John Wierman, Morton. There are seven grandchildren, Tammy (Todd) Chance, Chatham; Cindy (Phil) Shaffer, Georgia; Sandy (Phil) Warlow, Hudson; Steve Shoopman, Germany; Sheri Lee, Florida; Angie Reis, Florida; and Corey (Karen) McCallon, Georgia.

Virginia got to enjoy seven great-grandchildren, Thomas Chance, Nicholas Shaffer, Jennifer Shaffer, Courtney Reis, Steven Reis, AJ Lee and Dyon Lee.

She loved playing rook with family and playing bridge with friends. She was a member of Morton United Methodist Church.

Besides being a mother and homemaker, she had worked at the First National Bank in Morton. Her family and friends will truly miss such a wonderful lady.
