William Henry Arnold, Sr. was my second great grandfather. He was the son of Thompson Arnold and Susannah HOLLAND Arnold and the grandson of Charles Arnold.

He married Mary Ann "Polly" SHOCKLEY on August 19, 1830 in Fleming County, Kentucky. They were blessed with 13 children, with some born in Kentucky and the others born after they migrated to Indiana. Their children, in order of birth, were Nancy, Lucretia, Charles, John, Thompson, James E., Susanna (called Susan), Mary Jane, William Henry, Jr.(my great grandfather), Lewis, George Washington, Francis, and David. At least four of their children migrated to Missouri.

My great-great grandfather was 91 when he died. He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, and several of his beloved children.

He was very much loved and missed by those of his children who survived him, his grandchildren, and his many other family members and friends.
