The proud matriarch of our family, Linda Ann Baker, passed away peacefully on January 21, 2023 at the age of 80.

To sum up Linda's life in only a few paragraphs would be an impossible task – but one we are still willing to try. Linda was born on March 11, 1942 in Springfield, Massachusetts to George H. Frey and Hilda Frey. Sassy from the beginning, she would get in trouble with the nuns at school for showing off her elbows to the boys in class. She was the captain of her school's cheerleading team and was crowned Miss Congeniality at the Miss Westfield Pageant in 1961. After graduating from St. Mary's High School, she took on accounting, modeling and secretary work. Linda was a volunteer at the orphanage and played in the Westfield Drum Corp. After marriage, her passion turned to real estate working as Sr. Vice President of the legal department at Century 21 (yes, she had a "gold jacket"), co-owner of Baker Inspection Company, and Professional Real Estate Agent at Keller Williams and Realm Real Estate. She went on to get her Broker's License and opened On The Market Real Estate, retiring in 2021. As a volunteer, Linda was President of the Candlelight League where her boys played ball and taught CCD class at St. Ambrose in Houston, Texas.

In July 1961, Linda met Ronnie Baker when he stopped his car to help her fix a flat tire, and their whirlwind romance began. They wed in October 1962, and went on to have three children, Paul, Jimmy, and Mark. They moved to Houston, Texas in 1966, to be near Ronnie's family.

She lived her life doing the things she loved – listening to music, gambling with friends, traveling the world, dancing, and shopping. Most of all though, she loved spending time with her family, which she made a priority in life through family vacations and many, many get-togethers.

Linda is preceded in death by her mother, Hilda Frey Bean and father, George H. Frey; sister, Barbara Jean Frey, brother, George H. Frey, Jr.; husbands, Ronnie E. Baker and James Smith (Mr. Jim).

She is survived by her three sons, Paul R. Baker, daughter-in-law Mary; James E. Baker, daughter-in-law Amanda; and Mark A. Baker; her six grandchildren, Breanna and Shawn Fehnel, Kristi and Colton Smith, Jennifer Baker, Katie and Nick Eglin, Jeremy Baker, and Hunter Baker; her four great grandchildren, Easton Fehnel, Silas Smith, Addie Fehnel and Kameron Smith; her brother, Bruce Bean; her brother-in-law Donald Baker; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; and her best friend and partner Ronnie Mathews.
