On May 5, 1956 she married John E. Barnes, he preceded her in death on December 31, 2016. Shirley was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother. Shirley enjoyed cooking and loved sitting on the beach and enjoying the sunshine.
Shirley is survived by her two daughters: Christi (Russ) Hall, AZ, and Kelly (Ron) Pratscher, IL; five grandchildren: Ryan (Tanith Connolly) and Brett Hall, and Jonathan (Isabel), Jordan, and Jenae Pratscher; one great-grandchild: Everett Connolly Hall; sister: Janet Shimek; and one sister-in-law: Janet Pribek. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents: Frank and Verona Pribek; her husband: John Barnes; brother: Donald Pribek; and brother-in-law: Floyd Shimek.
A memorial service to celebrate Shirley's life will be held on Friday, February 3, 2023 at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 8100 Brunner Road, Newton, with Rev. Dave Beaudry officiating. Burial of cremains will take place in the church cemetery. Expressions of sympathy can be made to the family by visiting www.lakeshorefamilyfuneralhomes.com In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the American Cancer Society in Shirley's memory.
