David, age 74, of Appleton, passed away Thursday, November 12, 2009, at Cherry Meadows Hospice in Appleton.

He was born January 7, 1935, in Two Rivers, son of the late Earl and Mayme Kuska) Mattek. He married Jean Hollingsworth February 22, 1958, in the Town of Two Creeks sharing 51 years together. He was employed by S.C. Johnson Co., Racine, for 28 years and retired in 1997. David served in the Army during World War II. He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church and the American Legion. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking, cooking, baking and playing cribbage.

David is survived by his wife: Jean of Appleton; a daughter and son-in-law: Brenda and Dave Bergmann of Appleton; three sons and daughters-in-law: Jeffrey and Jamie Mattek of Sturtevant; Anthony and Kay Mattek of Colorado Springs, CO; Scott and Susan Mattek of Two Rivers; eight grandchildren: Deanna; Crystalynn; Nancy; Lauryn; Samantha; Jacob; Alexandra and Hailey.

He was preceded in death by a sister Joyce Mattek.

Services will be held 11 a.m., Monday, November 16, 2009, at Faith Lutheran Church, 601 E. Glendale Ave. with Rev. James Wiebel officiating. Burial will take place at Knollwood Memorial Gardens, Manitowoc. Friends may call directly at the church on Monday from 9 a.m. until the time of service. Memorials may be directed to Cherry Meadows Hospice.

The family would like to express a special thank you to the doctors and staff on 3rd floor at AMC and the staff at Cherry Meadows Hospice.
