Michael Eugene Rutherford, 46 of Browning, Mt. passed away on Saturday, November 27, 2021 at University of Utah Burn Center in Salt Lake City, Utah. Wake services were held at the Glacier Homes Community Center on December 3, 2021 as well as Catholic rosaries said that evening. His funeral services were on December 4, 2021 at Little Flower Parish in Browning followed by his burial in Holy Family Mission in Two Medicine. Michael Eugene Rutherford was born on March 12, 1975 to Eugene and Mary Gobert Rutherford. He was the youngest of 4 children while he had his sisters LeeAnn, Mona and Nora. Mike was born in Kalispell Regional Medical Center. Mike was raised in Browning down willow creek way. He attended Browning Public schools until his junior year. He had taken CDL training and went on his way to fulfill his dream of truck driving. Mike was blessed with 2 children: Tyson Rutherford-Gobert and Faylee Rutherford. Mike's chosen career was to always be in truck driving. He was very excited and proud when he got his all-over-the road driving job, being all across the country and he loved every minute of it. His hobbies and interests included listening to music, watching sports; specifically the KC Chiefs (his favorite team) and hanging out with friends. Mike was friends with many throughout the years but he had a strong and special connection with the neighborhood crew. He was also an all-timer square dancer, two stepper and jigger. At the old-time dances Mike was everybody's dance partner, he was just a young boy when he started showing interest in dancing. One time his parents were out at a dance at the Eagle Shields Center, Mike went to sit in the car and was told that's all he could do but Mike being Mike; he started messing around and he ended up running into the building, putting an end to the whole evening. Mike has many sides to him from good to bad. He always helped out as much as he could with his good heart. Even when he was on the streets with "the boys", he made sure everyone got something to eat when he scored food. One time when he ran into his sister Mona at IGA, he asked for some lunchmeat, so she let him get what he wanted. He came back with a thick pack of salami, a loaf of sweetheart bread and a bag of chips. As his sisters were driving back, they turned by Icks to see a few of the guys walking and eating sandwiches. Mike made sure his friends had something to eat. Mike was also involved with the cursillo movement here on the reservation; he made and worked several cursillos here at home, in Heart Butte and Ft. Belknap. That was one thing about him, he knew his faith, he followed God and said his rosaries. He knew where to turn when things turned bad; his faith was instilled by his mother Mary. She made sure all her kids and neighborhood friends knew how to say their prayers, rosaries and divine mercy. Another interest of his was Indian relay as he would always help his friends and their teams in these times. Mike made the decision to be an organ donor, for the fact he actually signed up for it alone is amazing. This was a selfless act on his part. When he was growing up, his Mom would say he was going to be a priest. Her friends Annalee Monroe and Theresa Wall would say their daughters Billy Jo and Ella were going to be his nuns. On that snowy December day, the nuns carried and laid to rest their priest. Mike is preceded in death mom, Mary Lee. Maternal grandparents, Willie and Millie Big Lake Gobert. Paternal grandparents, Abe and Peggy Hall Rutherford. Numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and good friends.
