She was born in Crandon, WI on March 21, 1934 to Rennie and Stella (Marvin) Smith.
Shirley was raised in Crandon and later moved to Kansas, California, Missouri, Oregon, North Carolina. Then she decided to return home to Wisconsin in 2009.
Shirley was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Most of her jobs were in the restaurant industry, as a waitress or hostess, and she was an outstanding sous chef at home to John (Sr), her husband of many years.
Shirley is survived by her son John (Jr) and daughter-in-law Mary, and son Bill and daughter-in-law Raye; her 5 grandchildren Joshua, Jeremy, Lindsay, Matthew, and Laura; and 3 great grandchildren.
Shirley will be buried in the Northwoods National Cemetery with her husband John (Sr), a WWII veteran.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Compassus Hospice Care, 111 E Davenport Street, Suite 101, Rhinelander, WI 54501. There will be no services at this time for Shirley.
