FEBRUARY 11, 1935 – JANUARY 18, 2023

Reese Homer Ferrell, Jr.(Sonny), age 87, of Wilson, passed away on Wednesday, January 18, 2023. He was born in Nash County on February 11, 1935, the son of the late Lela Hawkins Ferrell and Reese Homer Ferrell. He was also preceded in death by his wife Alberta Lamm Ferrell, his brothers William E. Ferrell, Edward C. Cammer and Bernard G. Cammer.

Sonny attended NC State and served in the US Air Force. He worked for Burroughs Corporation for 30 years and upon retirement dedicated his time to genealogy. He was past president of the Wilson County and Nash County Genealogy Societies.

He met his beloved wife of 63 years at the Beta Club Convention in high school. Their love, faith and commitment leave a true legacy for their children and grandchildren. Sonny considered himself a blessed man, and was so proud of his three girls and their families.

He was a lifelong member of Hornes Methodist Church and loved his church family.

Sonny leaves to cherish his memory his daughters, Renee Ferrell Habit and husband Chris, Kaye Ferrell Dowd and husband Tim and Kimberly Ferrell Lamm and husband Paul, 7 grandchildren, Kelly Habit Gibson and husband Derek, Laura Elizabeth Dowd, Jessica Lamm Griffin and husband John Rodney, Brooke Lamm Hovis and husband Justin, Matthew Habit and wife Nicole, Eric Dowd and wife Caroline, Scott Lamm and wife Jeannie, and 12 great grandchildren.

He also leaves his brother Wesley S. Ferrell and wife Jeanette and sister-in-law Alda Lamm Fountain.

The family would like to thank the staff at Parkwood Village and Community Care and Hospice for their love and support.

A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, January 22. 2022 at 3 PM in the chapel of Thomas-Yelverton Funeral Service with Rev. John Check officiating. Burial with Military Honors will follow the service in Evergreen Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 2 PM to 3 PM prior to the service in the funeral home.
