We regret to inform you of the passing of Julia Ferne Beck-Berman on Thursday, January 26, 2023. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Pluma Beck, her brother, John Beck, and her infant daughter, Neshamah Beck-Berman. She is survived by her husband, Rabbi Dennis Beck-Berman; her daughters, Cantor Sarah Beck-Berman and Rachel Beck-Berman, MSW; her brother, Paul Beck (Nancy Kronenberg); her sister, Sasha Kariel (Frank Tomas); her sister-in-law, Mary Schneider (John Beck); and all her nieces and nephews and their children.
Julie was an active leader in the local Jewish community, especially at Congregation Brith Achim in Petersburg and in the Richmond chapter of Hadassah, and she will be greatly missed. May her memory abide as an enduring blessing. The funeral service will be held at Congregation Beth Ahabah in Richmond, VA on Sun. Feb. 12, 2023 at 1p.m. immediately followed by interment in Hebrew Cemetery (4th St. & Hospital St.).
