Obituary for Helena Maye Harper
Helena Maye Harper, age 63 passed away suddenly on Friday, February 3, 2023, at the University of Tennessee Medical Center. She retired from the US Navy after 20 years of service. She served one year in Desert Storm as well as one year in Kuwait. She also retired from Y-12 National Security Complex, where she met her husband, Paul Harper. Helena and Paul were married for 21 years and enjoyed spending time with each other and family. Helena graduated from Oakdale High School and earned an associate of science degree from Roane State Community College. Helena loved being outdoors. She took great pride in her yard and flowers. One of her favorite things was walking her dog, Scout.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Verna Compton, father Cad Wilson. brothers, Jack Compton, Lonnie Wilson, and John Zumstein, sisters, Sue Rigopoulos and Edith Powell.
Survived by husband, Paul Harper.
Son Caleb Wilson-Harper.
Daughters Marlena Harper, Michele Hall and husband Ken.
Granddaughters Ally Hall, Amberly Hall and fiancé Matthew Bolden, Ashley Willis and husband Caleb. Great grandson Oakley Willis.
Sisters Betty Cromwell and husband Pete, and Carlene Zumstein.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. Friday, February 10, 2023 at Kyker Funeral Home of Kingston with the funeral to follow at 6:00 p.m., Reverend Larry Bolden and Reverend John Wells officiating. Burial 1:00 p.m. Saturday, February 11, 2023 at Kingston Memorial Gardens with full military honors. Kyker Funeral Home of Kingston is serving the Harper Family.
