JOHN CONNER - Retired Brick Mason

John Ferris Conner, 72, 426 Walnut Street, Hope, died at 11:45 p.m. Tuesday at his home. He had been in failing health for the past 12 years and critically ill for the past two months.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday at the Norman Funeral Home in Hope by the Rev. Norwood Green. Burial will be in the Hope Moravian Cemetery. Persons may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Thursday.

A native of Bartholomew County, Conner was born April 22, 1903 to Washington and Myrtle Brown Conner. He married Eva Stam on Aug. 4, 1923, and she survives.

Conner was a retired brick mason. He was a member of the Hope Moravian Church and Masonic Lodge, and was a 50-year member of the Bricklayers Union, Local 125.

Other survivors include a son, Robert B. Conner, Hope route 1; two daughters, Mary Foust, Shelbyville, and Carol Ziegler, Hope route 2; a sister, Mae Stewart, Greensburg route 3; seven grandchildren; and a great grandchild.

Conner was preceded in death by two brothers, Melville and Washington Conner.
