Obituary
Harold Eugene Hysell was born to Albert and Dora (Canfield) Hysell on May 8th, 1936 in Powersville, MO. He was raised in Corydon, Iowa. He was very proud to be a Corydon Hornet and graduated from Corydon High School. He passed away on February 5th, 2023 at the Wayne County. Hospital. He was raised less than a block from the hospital.

He married Earnestine Faye Teater in 1957 and was happily married for 64 years. He was baptized 1962. Fresh out of high school they moved to Illinois where he worked at the Adams Bearing Factory and then soon moved to Springville, Iowa to run a dairy farm with his brother Elmer. While working with his brother he also began running an auction house in Lisbon, Iowa as an auctioneer. One day they decided to move home to a beautiful little farm in Sewal, Iowa to raise their family. Along with farming he ran the Saturday night Opera for over 10 years.

Harold was so proud of his four boys Albert Tager (Sandy), Donald Clayborn (Jeanie), Steven Eugene (Kim), Jerry Dean "Jake" and daughter Jani (Mike) Ellis. He took pride in having 12 grandkids and 20 great grandkids and counting.
He lived life on his very own terms with a whistle and a song. He enjoyed farming, woodworking and made a lot of keepsakes for his family to cherish. He had a passion for playing music with his family in which his family was always by his side. He was his boy's biggest fan! He was louder than the coaches on the sidelines as he cheered for his boys playing football for the Seymour Warriors. He was an avid hunter and loved to fish. He quit fishing when the boys were little because all he got done was baiting hooks.

They wintered in Texas for 27 years and played music almost every night. Sometimes 2 shows a day.

They settled in their retirement home in Corydon and lived there for over 37 years. He continued to play all the music he could. He loved his family very much. Whenever the great grandkids came to visit he always had a bouncing knee and a hot cup of black coffee. He doctored up the grandkids coffee with lots of sugar, cream, and love.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers, 1 sister, 2 brother in laws, 3 sister in laws, and 2 nephews.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, February 8, 2023 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. A Celebration of Life will follow at 1:00 pm located at the Thomas Funeral Home in Corydon, Iowa. Burial will take place at the Cambria Cemetery at a later date.
