Anthony "Tony" Akgulian, age 83, a resident of Manitowoc, entered eternal life on Wednesday, February 1, 2023 at River Woods Place in Manitowoc with his family by his side. Tony was born on May 11, 1939 in Racine, WI. He was the son of the late Kaprial and Virginia Haroutounian Akgulian. Tony was a graduate of Horlick High School in Racine with the class of 1957. He continued his education at the University of Wisconsin-Madison where he met the love of his life, Diane Rohlf, who he married in June 1960 at Kaukauna. Tony served his country with the United States Army stationed at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. He was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army in 1963. Tony owned and operated Anthony Motors, the local Pontiac and GMC automobile dealership in Manitowoc. He later started and developed Valley Mobile Shredding which he owned and operated until he retired. Tony and his wife Diane enjoyed wintering at their home in Naples, Florida where they provided their granddaughters some amazing experiences. They spent the rest of the year at their home in Manitowoc very much enjoying their family and friends. He was an avid fan of the Green Bay Packer football team and Chicago Cubs baseball team. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Diane, one son and daughter-in-law, Christian and Kris Akgulian, Manitowoc, two granddaughters, Kalina and Michaelyn Akgulian, one niece, Kari and one nephew, Gary, along with other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents , Kaprial and Virginia Akgulian and one brother, Harry in 2021. A Life Celebration Social for family and friends will be held on Saturday, February 18, 2023 from 12 p.m. until 2 p.m. at the Harrigan Parkside Gathering Center, 620 North Water Street, Manitowoc, located on the south property of the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home. Cremation has taken place at the Harrigan Parkside Crematory and Chapel with burial of the cremated remains to follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Manitowoc at a later date. The family would like to convey their special thanks to Aurora Hospice for their compassionate care and to Sherry and the staff at River Woods Place. Tony was a wonderful husband, father-in-law, grandfather, and the best father a kid could ask for. The Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home and Crematory, North 11th and St. Clair streets, Manitowoc is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
