Charles J. Avera died at his residence, Byron, route 3, at 6 o'clock, yesterday afternoon, after an illness of about a week. He had been in declining health for some time. He was born in Crawford county, Feb. 1, 1875, and had lived in the vicinity all his life as a farmer. He was the son of the late B. E. and Mattie Dean Avera. He is survived by his widow, formerly Miss Docia Johnson; two sons, Nathan Avera, Fort Valley, and B. J. Avera, of Randolph county; one daughter, Mrs. Vickey Dixon, Crawford county, and two grandchildren. Two sisters also survive, Mrs. J. L. Bostick and Mrs. C. W. Tomlin, of Crawford, as well as a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 4 o'clock (Eastern time) this afternoon at Union church, in Crawford county by Elder Henry Swain. Burial will be in the Union cemetery.
