Marian F. Mead

Marian F. Mead Formerly of Grand Gorge, NY and Lexington, NY passed away on December 13, 2021. Marian was born on February 12, 1925, to Mary Strain and John Wolcott. She was oldest of six children. On May 28, 1941, she married Theodore C Mead of Prattsville, NY, and they made their first home in Red Falls. Marian and her later moved to Lexington NY, where they raised 5 children.

While living in Lexington, Marian worked at what used to be known as Camp Lexington. In 1966 Marian and her family moved to Windham, NY, then in 1969 they made their final move to Grand Gorge. While living in Grand Gorge, she worked several different jobs, including working at Mary Scott's Laundry Service, at Greendell Packing Plant in Prattsville, and finally working at Hunter Mountain Ski Bowl until she retired. Marian made many lasting friendships from her different jobs. She loved making crochet blankets for her children & grandchildren, doing search word puzzles, playing different card games and dominoes with her grandchildren. Friends and family were always important to her. Until she gave up driving she would travel to visit old friends and family just to say hello and check in.

Marian is survived by her son Robert A. Mead of Lexington, NC, and daughter Teresa Castle (Kenneth) of Gilboa, NY, many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Theodore C. Mead Sr., her daughter Thelma (Judy) Mead, daughter Elizabeth (Betty) Thomas, son Theodore C. Mead Jr.,sisters Ruthie Gerow, and Virginia Neff, brothers Jack Wolcott, and Millard Wolcott. She was also predeceased by two granddaughters, Pamela Mead and Dawn Yungen, and great grandson Andrew Mead and several nieces and many other family members.

Viewing will be at Miller Funeral Home on Main Street, Art 30, Roxbury, NY on December 29, 2021, from 1pm to 3 pm with a prayer service at 3pm. Interment will be later in the spring at Mansorkill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Grand Gorge Rescue Squad or American Heart Association.
