He was with the hospital corps at Fort Worth TX. and later served as a sergeant in Company F. infantry at the officers' training school at Camp McArthur TX.

Died age 52 of a heart attack at the Walgreen drug store on 2nd avenue where he was filling a prescription after seeing his doctor for a pain he felt an hour earlier.

Bur. 29 Jan. 1942 Rock Island, Rock Island IL. Calvary cemetery.

daughter Suzanne, at home [Rock Island];
brothers Elmer and George Ackerman both of Rock Island;
sisters Mrs. Jennie Hofgaard of Rock Island and Mrs. Clara Huston of Liverpool England.
