Professional Football and Baseball Player. George Sullivan attended the University of Pennsylvania, where he joined the football team during his sophomore year. By his senior year, he started in Penn's backfield. He also played basketball and was captain of Penn's baseball team, earning All-American status in 1921. After graduating in 1923, he tried out for the New York Giants baseball team in spring training of 1924, but did not make the team. Sullivan then joined the Frankford Yellow Jackets of the National Football League later the year. He appeared in six games with Frankford in his first season, with four starting assignments. In 1925, he saw playing time in 16 games. He scored eight touchdowns for Frankford in his two seasons on the team. Sullivan then played for the Philadelphia Quakers of the American Football League in 1926 until the league collapsed. He caught on with the Atlantic City Roses of the Eastern League of Professional Football in 1927. Outside of football, he co-owned a rug and cleaning company in Woodbury, New Jersey from 1949 to 1975.
