Ms. Betty Jean Back, age fifty-nine, of Gordon, KY, passed away on Friday, February 10, 2023 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Betty was born in Wise, Virginia on December 29, 1963 to George and Gladys Baldwin. Her family moved to Cumberland as teenager and it was there she met Benny Back They married in 1985 and had four children. Family meant everything to Betty and she was at her best and happiest when surrounded by her children and grandchildren. She lived on a farm in a holler and loved to be outside. From a young age, Betty had a love for horses and that love expanded with each horse she acquired. She had a total of 56 horses and loved each one. When she was physically unable to go up to see the horses, the horses came to see her. Betty enjoyed reading, fishing, napping, working in her garden, and canned everything that came out of her garden. She was a talented quilter, each quilt stitched with much love, and she gave those quilts as gifts to those she loved most. Betty was brutally honest and didn't think twice about telling you exactly what was on her mind. She believed in the Pentecostal faith. Betty is preceded in death by her husband, Benjamin Back; her parents, George Eugene Baldwin and Gladys Pauline Rains Baldwin; and five siblings: Linda Turner, Joyce Franks, Bill Baldwin, Ricky Baldwin, and Gary Baldwin. Left to cherish her memory are her four children: two sisters: her fiancé, ten grandchildren: a host of extended relatives and many dear friends. Visitation for Betty will be Monday, February 13, 2023 from 5:00-8:00pm at the Tri City Funeral Home. The funeral service will take place Tuesday, February 14, at 2:00pm with Brother Glenn Cornett officiating. Burial will take place at the Monte Vista Cemetery in Cumberland.
