Guy Walters, 97, of LaGrange, died Monday at Brian Center Nursing Care, LaGrange.

The graveside funeral will be 2 p.m. today at Shadowlawn Cemetery, LaGrange, according to Hunter-Allen-Myhand Funeral Home, LaGrange.

Mr. Walters was born Jan. 7, 1898, in Lee County, Ala., son of Harrison Worley and Laura Virginia Faulkner Walters. A resident of LaGrange for 78 years, he retired from the Hillside Plant of the old Callaway Mills Co., and was a former partner in the Bait and Tackle Shop on West Point Road. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and Elm City Lodge No. 544, F&AM. He also was a Shriner, and had been a volunteer with the Boy Scouts of America at Callaway Mills, Trinity United Methodist Church and South Highland Presbyterian church.

Survivors include a daughter, Ruth Sayers of LaGrange; three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
