Nancy Joann Hanning, age 78 of Mannington, WV and formerly of Metz, joined her baby boy in a glorious walk down Heaven's golden streets on Saturday, February 18, 2023 at her residence. She was born in Crabapple in Joetown, WV on September 20, 1944, a daughter of the late James Price and Nellie Simpson Price.
She is survived by her husband and the love of her life, Lewis "Junior" Hanning, with whom she was married to for 64 years, and her daughter Melissa Brooks and son-in-law Rick, who she called her son. She is also survived by her two sisters, Freda Villers and Linda Wade and brother-in-law Robert Wade, and many nieces and nephews who she loved dearly.
In addition to her parents, Nancy was preceded in death by her baby boy Lewis Scott Hanning, her brother Chester Simpson and sister-in-law Mary "Gin" Simpson, her sister Martha "Peg" Batson, two brothers-in-law, Arnold "Butch" Batson and Willard Villers Sr., and three nieces, Linda Kay Villers, Tabitha Price and Peggy Lynn Batson.
Nancy was a homemaker and a caregiver by nature and previously worked at Fitzwater's Personal Care Home in Fairmont. She enjoyed reading, quilting and crocheting. She also enjoyed mowing yards, square dancing and her pets. Nancy was a member of the Metz Church of God of Prophecy.
The family would like to express a special "Thank You" to her sister Freda and niece Rachael for the loving care they provided for Nancy in her final days.
Family and friends may call at Masters Funeral Home in Mannington, WV on Wednesday, February 22, 2023 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm with funeral services beginning at 12:00 pm with Pastors' Dennis Howard and Nieta Howard officiating. Interment will follow at the Mannington Memorial Park Cemetery.
