She grew up in Missouri and after completing her studies, became a teacher.
She married William Jay Bussell on February 28, 1905 and gave birth to her only child, a daughter named Glenis Lula Bussell, on Nov. 23, 1905.
Cora became ill after childbirth and died on December 18, 1905. She was buried in Howell County, Missouri.
William, for whatever reason, did not raise his daughter, Glenis, but gave her to her grandparents, the Hatfields, to raise.
Cora's love of education extended to her daughter, Glenis, who loved school and in particular, math.
She was survived by her daughter Glenis, her parents, her sisters, Lillie Mae Hatfied and Dora B. Hatfield, and brother, Charley F. Hatfield. She was predeceased by her brother Cimma C. Hatfield.
