Larry Abbott, 73 of Vernon, Texas passed away on Tuesday, February 21, 2023, in Richardson, Texas.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 25, 2023 at 2:00 pm at Sullivan Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Toby Castleberry officiating. Burial will be Monday, February 27, 2023 at 11:00 am at Paducah Cemetery in Paducah, Texas under the direction of Sullivan Funeral Home.
Larry was born Wednesday, October 12, 1949 in Vernon, Texas. He was the son of the late Woodrow Wilson "Shorty" Abbott and the late Doris Eugenia Cardwell Abbott. He married Sharon Lea Hickman on April 6, 1985 in Paducah, Texas. Sharon passed away April 25, 2012. Larry retired from the US Army. He served two tours in Vietnam in an infantry unit. He received a Combat Infantry Badge and a Purple Heart. Larry also owned and operated several car wash businesses, and worked at Vernon State Hospital as a PNA for over 20 years. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
Larry is survived by sons, Chad Abbott of Muenster, Texas, Brad Abbott & wife Angel of Weatherford, Texas, Eric Abbott & wife Charity of Vernon, Texas, and Landon Abbott of Fort Worth, Texas; daughter, Sheridan Atnip & husband Dakotah of Vernon, Texas; five grandchildren, Nadia, Aubrey, Levi, Journey, and Emerii.
Larry is preceded in death by his wife, Sharon Lea Abbott, and by his brother, Gerald Abbott.
Visitation will be Friday, February 24, 2023 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Sullivan Funeral Home.
Memorials can be made to the American Cancer Society, Wounded Warriors, or the Vernon VFW.
