David Laurel Hookom was born on March 27, 1938 in Willmar, MN to Ruth Thompson & Herman Hookom Sr. He grew up in the New London-Spicer area. He went to country school & then high school in New London. There he met the love of his life Judith Stanger & they were united in marriage August 6, 1959. They lived in the Spicer area & then moved to the Paynesville area where they were blessed with 4 beautiful children: Hal, Laurie, Timothy, & Jolynn. They moved back to the Spicer area where the kids went to school. David had many jobs throughout his life always providing for his family.....some of which included the Sugar Beet plant in Renville & Green Lake trailer works in Spicer. They eventually bought a farm in Roseland, MN where they resided most of their lives along with raising their granddaughter Jill. After many years David retired. He enjoyed tinkering on cars & mowers, playing cards, fishing, and spending time with family. David also loved keeping up his big yard & trees. After many years they moved to Sacred Heart, MN being closer to family. Until recently moving to Renville, MN. David passed away suddenly on February 2, 2021 in Renville, MN.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years Judy, his sons and daughters: Hal (and fiance Kathy Riley), Laurie (and Daniel) Zwagerman, Tim (and Toni), and Jolynn (and special friend Myron Flickinger); 15 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren; his sister Gwen Fredeen, and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his siblings: Quinten, Herman, Jimmy, Paul, Myron, Harriet, Ethel Bobbie, Shirley, and Sharon
