She was born on February 18, 1924, in Chilton, the daughter of Michael and Irma (Brunmeier) Bolz. After graduating from Chilton High School in 1942, she attended and graduated from the Milwaukee Business Institute. She worked at the Merchandising Corp. in downtown Milwaukee for seven years and then for Kearney and Trecker Corp. as their raw material buyer for 18 years. Her most memorable vacations were in the Bahamas, Havana, Cuba, Sanibel Island, the Hawaiian Islands and Tijuana, Mexico.

On September 19, 1969, she was united in marriage with Ernest "Ernie" Kuster at the Gesu Church in Milwaukee. Ernie preceded her in death on March 7, 2004.

In 1976 they moved to the Kuster Christmas tree farm near Briggsville (Portage and Wisconsin Dells area) where Dolores was a member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church, the Alter Sodality, Friends of the Portage Library, the Columbia County Humane Society, and the Portage Elkettes. She was a Portage Nursing Home bookmobile volunteer for 14 years, an active volunteer at many church functions, dedicated supporter of the Humane Society, enjoyed the beauty of nature and wildlife (sandhill cranes and deer), tending to many bird feeders, an avid gardener and an outdoor enthusiast who enjoyed participating in the annual Madison WSO bird count.

In November of 2007, Dolores relocated to Fond du Lac. She was a member of Holy Family Parish, Fond du Lac Humane Society, Elks Club, Friends of the Library and the Senior Center.
