Blount Smith graduated from Vanderbilt University in 1957. In August 1971, she started teaching Latin at Bartlett High School in Bartlett, Tennessee and did so for the next 50 years. She was a huge fan of anything Bartlett, especially the Panther sports teams. Many BHS athletes came and went in her 50 years. They all knew they could count on seeing Ms. Smith wearing her button adorned hat on the sidelines.
Even those students who never crossed into her classroom (41 years in the same one) knew that she was a dedicated, yet fun teacher to have.
