Joan was a 1962 graduate of Powell High School. She worked for Ingersoll Rand as an Administrative Assistant for 30 years. She coordinated many trips with customers over these years. She also served as Secretary of the Martin Luther Miller Historical Society.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James Earl Frazier and Opal (Miller) Frazier.
She is survived by her loving husband and soulmate of 57 years, Charles (Charlie) Barker; son Michael (Mike) Barker; sisters, Ramona Powell and Sharon Coonrod; Brother-in-law David Barker; Nieces Rhonda (Barker) Mitchell and Natalie (Powell) England; Nephew Nicholas (Nick) Powell. She was also blessed with several great nieces and nephews.
Her life was a picture of an "angel' on earth demonstrated by her warm smile, positive attitude, sweet demeanor and her countless, selfless acts of love and kindness. This endeared her to everyone she met. She was blessed with a multitude of friends, and enjoyed any opportunity for social gatherings. She planned class reunions, birthday lunches, day trips or any special event she felt worthy of a celebration. She enjoyed many hobbies through the years, including ceramics and painting.
A Celebration of Life is scheduled Thursday, February 10 at Mynatt's Funeral Home, Hall's Chapel. Visitation will be held from 3:00 PM-5:00 PM, with service to follow at 5PM.
