Fairmount - Gary Lee Dixon, 80, of Fairmount Illinois, passed away at 2:25 am, on Thursday, March 2nd, 2023, at Sarah Bush Lincoln Medical Center in Mattoon.

Gary was born to Joe and Virginia Cope Dixon in Danville, Il, on February 7, 1943, and later raised by Virginia and Russell Edmiston in Georgetown Il, however, has been a resident of Fairmount, IL. since 1973. Gary is survived by his wife of 58 years Diana Mae Griffin Dixon, four children Randall Colby, Gary Dixon, Joy (Colby) Stewart, and Angela Dixon Jones, brother, Mike Morgan, sister, Joanna Dixon Kinneer, seven grandsons, eight granddaughters, and fourteen great-grandchildren.

Prior to his wife Diana, Gary proudly served in the Navy 1959-1966, including time on the USS Radford and USS Craig in various parts of Vietnam throughout the Vietnam war. He spent life doing what he loved; fishing anywhere he could cast a pole, hunting, camping, gardening, and most importantly beginning and ending his days with a cup of coffee, swinging on the porch with his beloved wife by his side.
