Military figure and politician. After a lengthy military career, Boerner served as the Polish Minister of Posts and Telegraphs from 1929 until his death in 1933. He was a member of the Foreign Union of Polish Socialists, serving in its 6th Congress in 1899. An engineer, he worked at the Warsaw-Vienna Railway in the early 1900s before joining the Polish Socialist Party and becoming a leader in the party. Boerner led workers' uprisings in Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski and became known as "the president of the Ostrowiec Republic." During World War I, Boerner served in the Polish Legions and was commissioner of the National Government Commissariat in Kielce and commander of the sapper company of the 1st Infantry Regiment and commanded an assault company in the 5th Infantry Regiment. After spending time as a prisoner of war at Fort Beniaminów, he became a captain in the People's Militia in 1918 and then was named a deputy chief in the Polish Army. He served in the Polish-Bolshevik war and headed multiple divisions. Boerner served in the military in multiple capacities until his retirement in 1929. In 1929, he became Minister of Posts and Telegraphs in the government of Kazimierz Świtalski, continuing in the role in the governments of Kazimierz Bartel , Walery Sławek, Józef Piłsudski, Walery Sławek, and Aleksander Prystor. He became a deputy to the Sejm in the third term of the Sejm before his death.
