Notice the white spot in her hair, this is a birth mark that has been inherited from one of her parent's line. We know that Emma and three of her siblings, Robert, William Edward and Preston inherited the white spot. This genetic white birthmark has gone down 7 generations in several of these family lines. It is usually on the front of the hairline and some have white spot on legs.

Palmer lines with white birthmarks
1. Emma's daughter Oakie and her grandson Bob and his son Ramsey.
2. Robert Schyler his daughter Anna, Anna's two children Marie Ellen and A. Ervin. Marie Ellen passed white birthmark to one of her sons Dale Edward Carter, that was passed to two of his grandaughters.
3. Presley had the white birth mark

That means there were 4 children of John William and Sarah Ann "Sally" (Thompson) Palmer who definitely passed down the white birthmark in hair--Emerine, Robert Schuyler, William Edward and Preston.
