Luke Harper McCorkle, 98, died Friday March 5, 1999 at Presbyterian Hospital in Matthews.
Graveside service will be 3 p.m. today at Bonds Grove United Methodist Church.
Born June 22, 1900, in Lancaster County, S.C., he was a son of the late Preston and Minnie Robena McManus McCorkle and he was a retired self-employed cattle farmer. He was married to the late Myrtle Hill McCorkle and was also preceded in death by a daughter, Katherine McCorkle.
Survivors include one daughter, Vivian Price of Arlington, Texas; one son, John Preston McCorkle of Waxhaw; one sister, Lucille Julian of Charlotte; one grandson; two stepgrandsons; two great-grandchildren; and four stepgreat-granchildren.
Memorials may be made to Bonds Grove United Methodist Church, 8215 Bonds Grove Church Road, Waxhaw, NC 28173.
