Death Claims J. R. Baber, 80
Resident of Linden Avenue Succumbs – Native of Madison County; Services on Sunday.
James R. Baber, 80 years old, died at 11 o’clock Friday morning at his home, 14 Linden avenue. Mr. Baber would have been 81 years old on Christmas Day. He was born and reared in Madison County and was a member of the Methodist church.
Mrs. Ellen Blackwell Baber, who survives, and Mr. Baber were married in 1873 and moved to Winchester from Madison county in 1893. Besides his widow, the deceased is survived by a brother, D. L. Baber, Covington; eight sons, Elmer, Schuyler, Asa C., Taylor S., Nelson H. and Gilbert Baber, all of Winchester; Clay Baber, Paris, and William G. Baber, Mt. Sterling; four daughters, Mrs. Annie Barker and Mrs. Herbert Karrick, Winchester; Mrs. J. L. Rushford, Terre Haute, Ind., and Mrs. Ellis Noel, West Point, Ky., fifty grandchildren and a number of great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at two o’clock at the Hickman Street Church of God by the Rev. T. P. Roberts, assisted by the Rev. W. W. King. Burial will follow in the Winchester cemetery. Mr. Baber’s sons will act as pallbearers.
