BUCKLIN – Lyndol L. McGee, 70, departed this life Saturday, April 9, 2016, at Minneola District Hospital, Minneola, Kansas.

Born May 8, 1945, in Ashland, Kansas, Lyndol was the sixth child born to Dwight McGee and Mary (Wilson) McGee.

He attended school in Protection, Kansas, where he enjoyed all the pleasantries of rural life including hunting, fishing, football and basketball. He graduated from Protection High School in 1963. He attended Northern Oklahoma College in Tonkawa, Oklahoma and Wichita State University in Wichita, Kansas.

On June 27, 1981, he married Bridget Kay Sangster in Protection, Kansas. To this union two children were born: Trevan Andrew, on December 25, 1983, and Lucy Blake, on December 20, 1987. He was a proud father and wonderfully devoted to his children.

Lyndol dedicated the past twenty-three years to Bucklin Tractor and Implement of Bucklin, Kansas, where he worked as a parts serviceman. His immense knowledge and service to area farmers was recognized by many.

Lyndol loved Protection, Kansas, and always considered it "Home". He had many fond memories of childhood there and family history that meant the world to him. He loved Protection for its small town comfort and its slow, easy pace. One of the things he enjoyed most was reminiscing with his mother-in-law, Marge, about old times, people, and the places. Through those conversations, they had become the best of friends.

His greatest joy was being "Papa" to his two adorable grandchildren. They were always sure to put a smile on his face and a song in his heart. His happiest times were those spent with Kason and Aedyn.

He was a member of the United Methodist Church of Bucklin, Kansas. He was a kind and gentle spirit that touched the lives of many family members and friends, always showing an interest in others and putting their needs ahead of his own. He will be dearly missed by many but never forgotten.

Survivors include his wife of nearly 35 years, Bridget; son, Trevan of Kansas City, Kansas; daughter, Blake Cook and husband Cliff of Dodge City, Kansas; two grandchildren, Kason Cook and Aedyn Cook.

Other survivors include: sister, JoAnn Daily of Loveland, Colorado; sister Nancy Hoffmans and husband Carl of Emporia, Kansas; brother, Lyman (Bud) McGee and wife Kathy of Protection, Kansas; brother Gary McGee and wife Viva of Wichita, Kansas; and brother David McGee and wife Marcia of Valley Center, Kansas; and a host of loving nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Garth McGee; and one brother-in-law, George Daily.

Memorial service will be at 11:00 am Thursday, April 14, 2016 at the Protection United Methodist Church with Rev. Jessie Zimmerman officiating. Private family burial will be at the Protection Cemetery prior to the service. Visitation with the family present will be from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm Wednesday at Minnis Mortuary, Bucklin. The casket will remain closed.

The family will suggest memorials to the Lyndol McGee Memorial Fund (to be designated at a later date) or the Minneola District Hospital both in care of Minnis Mortuary, P. O. Box 516, Bucklin, Kansas 67834.
