Marilyn Jane Betz
AUGUST 2, 1934 – MARCH 5, 2023

Marilyn Jane Betz, age 88, of Longmont, Colorado passed away on Sunday, March 5, 2023. The second daughter of Dorothy Tevebaugh and Ralph Price, she was born at St. Anthony's Hospital in Denver, Colorado on August 2, 1934.

She lived in Central City until the age of five, when her parents moved to Denver. They lived there for a very short time before moving to Longmont where Marilyn attended school. In 1946 her family moved to Sterling where she graduated from Sterling High School in 1952. While in high school Marilyn participated in theatrical productions, was head majorette of the Sterling High School Band in her senior year and was DeMolay Sweetheart. She was also an accomplished tap dancer, having taken lessons in her younger days. She was always very active: liked to ice skate, play tennis and golf and was very proficient in that sport.

After graduating from high school, she was awarded a scholarship for the summer semester at Denver University School of Theatre. While attending, she was privileged to meet Helen Hayes, who was a guest of the university that summer. As a part of her summer dramatic training, she played a small part in a production at Elitch's Theatre in Denver.

In 1952 her family moved back to Longmont. Marilyn enrolled in Colorado State University at Fort Collins, then known as Colorado A&M. There she met Robert William Betz, who she married in Raton, New Mexico in 1953. They had two children: Bradley Alan and Brian Lee, both born in Longmont.

Marilyn was employed as Office Manager for Baker Remodelers from 1971 to 1982. Never having an opportunity to travel, she visited England and Scotland with her mother and sister Roberta in the summer of 1980. It was a very exciting, unforgettable experience for her. She also took a trip to D.C. with her sister, Roberta, and a friend for a DAR event. She loved all the road trips across the country with her husband, Bob.

She always enjoyed decorating her house for every holiday. Her favorite pastime was watching classic movies, especially westerns.

Marilyn is survived by her two sons, Brad (Karen) and Brian (Deb) as well as her three siblings, Shirley Patton (Keith) and family, Roberta Price, and Don Price (Eva).

A celebration of life for Marilyn will be held Wednesday, March 15, 2023, at 11:00 AM at Howe Mortuary Chapel, 439 Coffman Street, Longmont, Colorado 80501. A reception will follow Wednesday, March 15, 2023, at 12:00 PM at Howe Mortuary Reception Room.
