Darlene Tasset, 63, of Springfield died at 5:55 p.m. Sunday, March 2, 2008, at St. John's Hospice.


She was born Oct. 6, 1944, in Spearville, Kan., the daughter of Leonard and Matilda Reidl Jensen.


She married Kenneth Tasset on June 5, 1965.


Her parents and brother, Charles G. Jensen, preceded her in death.


Upon high school graduation, she attended cosmetology school and worked several years at Darlene's Beauty Shop.


She served as a cook at Wilcox Elementary School.


After raising two children, she worked for Central Illinois Public Service for 15 years.


She was a member of Blessed Sacrament Church and the Roman Catholic Faithful.


She served on the Board of Directors at Villa Retirement Center in Sherman. She also did volunteer work and served on the board for God's Outreach and also was a volunteer for Roman Catholic Faithful.


She enjoyed quilting the most among her hobbies.


Surviving are her husband, Kenneth W. Tasset of Springfield; daughter, Marlo R. (husband, Bradley) Wallace of Springfield; a son, Tyler L. (wife, Kimberly) Tasset of Cedar Falls, Iowa; three grandchildren; and a sister, Karen Stegman of Wright, Kan.


Funeral Mass at Blessed Sacrament Church, with the Rev. David Hoefler officiating.


Burial in Calvary Cemetery.
