My beloved Mother

Mom was born March 3, 1941 in Bellows Falls, VT. She loved puzzles, crafting, crocheting, knitting, her beloved cat DJ and spending time with her grandchildren. She was a great cook and baked wonderful homemade pies. She worked as a hairdresser and also in retail. Shirley at one time owned and operated a craft store in Gettysburg, PA. Mom like to collect Ladybugs. My youngest daughter and I continue to add to her collection in her memory.

Mom was a quiet, kind and loving woman. She had her demons and tried to fight them as best she could but they always seemed to get the better of her. Ultimately, the years of alcohol abuse attributed to her leaving us. She had a very hard time dealing with her daughter, Lisa's passing and she unexpectedly and quietly slipped away a week before her daughters 5th Angel Day to be with her again.

Shirley is survived by her daughters, Rebecca (Paul)Arrington of Clayton, NM, Tracy (Rick) Carlson and Cindy (Dan) Lollman, both of Urbandale; son, John (Wendy) Huff II of Clarksville, TN; 12 grandchildren, two great grandchildren and two on the way; sisters, Dottie (George) Cross of Winooski, VT, Helen (Mike) Sokolosky of Turners Falls, MA and Judy (Frank) Patterson of Avon, CT; former husband and friend, Jack Huff of Des Moines. She was preceded in death by her mother, Kitty Zeno; brother, Paul Zeno; and daughter, Lisa Huff.

Four great-grandsons born after her passing: Coby, Nicholas, Jack, and Bentley.

You are always in our hearts mom!

"Go Rest High On That Mountain"

I know your life
On earth was troubled
And only you could know the pain
You weren't afraid to face the devil
You were no stranger to the rain

Go rest high on that mountain
Son, your work on earth is done
Go to heaven a shoutin'
Love for the Father and Son

Oh, how we cried the day you left us
We gathered round your grave to grieve
I wish I could see the angels faces
When they hear your sweet voice sing

Go rest high on that mountain
Son, your work on earth is done
Go to heaven a shoutin'
Love for the Father and Son

"There You'll Be"

When I think back on these times and the dreams we left behind
I'll be glad cause I was blessed to get to have you in my life
When I look back on these days I'll look and see your face

You were right there for me
In my dreams I'll always see you soar above the sky
In my heart there'll always be a place for you for all my life
I'll keep a part of you with me
And everywhere I am there you'll be

Well you showed me how it feels to feel the sky within my reach
And I always will remember all the strength you gave tome
Your love made me make it through
I owe so much to you

Cause I always saw in you my light my strength
And I want to thank you now for all the ways
You were right there for me
