Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden light.

Maurice Dion White transitioned from his earthly life on September 14, 2022.

Maurice, affectionately known as "Reesie" was born on October 21, 1965 to the late Bessie T. White and Ralph White.

Maurice was the father of Daimion and Natalie Alexander.

He was the grandfather of Zion, Jayda and Miyah and the late Zaide Alexander.

Maurice was the brother of Chandra "Blossom" White-Evans (Troy), Tharence White, Gina Petty, Tonda Price, Alexis Vaughn, Wallace, Eric, Tyrone, and Travis Phoenix.

Maurice was baptized at Bell Baptist Church (now Historic Bell Baptist Church) at a young age by his uncle the late Rev. Eugene Turner. Maurice attended Church Service, Sunday School and sang in the Jr. Choir. He attended Hahnville High School.

Throughout his life Maurice learned and practiced a number of different trades. He could change your brake pads, finish your drywall, or cook you a full meal. Maurice was never known to miss a family function or event. He was a warm and welcoming presence who loved to sing old school R&B.

Maurice's memory will forever be cherished by his two children, three grandchildren, four sisters, five brothers, two aunts, Mildred Stokes, and Geneva Dorsey, six uncles: Allen Turner, Sr., Lee Turner, Sr., Junius Grant White, Rodney White, Gerald Parker, Clarence White, Godparents Gleniece and Joseph Hensley, and a host of nieces and nephews.

Maurice was preceded in death by his parents Ralph and Bessie T. White and Wallace Phoenix, granddaughter Zaide Alexander, sister Sholanda Melancon, six aunts, Bernice, Hazel, Leona, Wilhelmena, Ethel, and Eula, and five uncles, Eugene, Louis, Timothy, Richard, and David.
