OK2Explore provided his death date, and a death notice was found in the Black Dispatch (Feb. 27, 1936 edition, p.6 under the heading "Fallis"): "Mr. E. Battles died of pneumonia the past week. He had been one of our neighbors in this community for a long time. He was a member of Bethlehem Baptist church. He leaves to mourn his death three sisters and five daughters. His body was laid away in the Bethlehem cemetery. Rev. Tatum officiated at the funeral."
